Argo Shipping GMBH

 1896: Founded as Dampfschifffahrtsgesellschaft Argo AG by Heinrich Friedrich Bisschoff.

- Shipbroker for several kinds of cargo.

From the beginning of WO I, Argo works close with the Norddeutscher Lloyd. They start several shipping companies, buy and sell ships, takes over shipping lines and chartered ships to other companies.
At the end of WO I, Adler has 18 ships left over from his 30 vessels. He has to hand over 9 ships to France and England.
In 1922 a majority comes in hands of Roland Linie AG. A new company is founded,
Dampfschifffahrts gesellschaft Argo mbH, taking over the Europa Lines of the Roland Linien.
At the end of 1925, NDL takes over Roland Linien and in 1926 the funnel marking and flag disappeared. In 1933, NDL starts a new company under the name
Argo Reederei Ag. With Richard Adler as director, the company is renamed in 1936 to Argo Reederei Rederei Richard Adler & Co.
At the end of WO II the company has lost 18 ships and 20 ships has been allocated to  the Allied Powers.
In the years to follow, Adler take over several companies, changed the name in 1952 to
Argo Reederei Richard Adler & Söhne an has at the end of the 60's over 30 ships sailing.
Due to selling and/or scrapping the fleet reduces and in 1999 Adler becomes a shipbroker with services to Finland and Britain.



Aug. Bolten Wm. Miller's Nachfolger (GmbH & Co) KG

 1801: Foundation of the company by William Miller.

- carry containers, dry bulk, ro-ro.

After William Miller passed away, August Bolten took over the business.
August Bolten is co-founder off the American-Hamburg (1847) and the Hamburg- Süd shipping lines.
Because, these days, the German flag was a cheap flag, August Bolten represent several Swedish shipping companies.
In 1962 he founded  with his partners the TT line.



Beluga Shiping GMBH

 1995: Established as cargo operator.

- carry general and heavy cargo.

In 1997 Beluga buys here first ship and start up the shipping company.
Beluga take over the Dutch company GenChart BV in 2003.
Beluga create a sensation in 2008 when they fit a ship with a sky sail.
This parachute will reduce the cost of fuel considerable.


Bernhard Schulte

 1883: Foundation of Schulte & Bruns by Johann Hermann Schulte and Christopher Burns.

- carry dry and wet bulk cargo, containers.

Started as a ship broker and agency. Burns steps out of the company after 10 years. In  the beginning of 1900, Schulte bought 12 sailing vessels. Around 1939, the fleet was build out to 36 seagoing vessels. After WO II the company has to start all over again and in 1955 the fleet consist of 16 ships. In 1967 Thomas Schulte joined the company. In 1972 the Hanseatic Shipping Co. was set up. Thomas Schulte left the company and start up his own company in 1987, reederei Thomas Schulte. In 1996 the Bernard Schulte Group take over the Oldenburg-Portugiesische Dampfschiffs - Rhederei (OPDR).


Bugsier-, Reederei- und Bergungsgesellschaft mbH

 1866: Foundation of the company with the formation of the Vereinigte Bugsir - Dampfschiff - Gesellschaft.

- towage and salvage company.

The Schuchmann family becomes a major shareholder of the company in 1926 and Behrend Schuchmann take over the management .
Under his supervision the company developes to a leading towage and salvage company in Germany.
The common name aris from merging and acquisition with other companies.


Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler & Reederei GmbH & Co. KG

 1903: Esthablished by Carsten Rehder.

Delta Shipping Lines

 2004: Established.

- carry containers.

Delta Shipping has set his lines to the countries situated on the North Sea, Scandinavian States and Russia.
transport to and from France and Italy is done by trucks, inland barges and train.

Hapag-Lloyd AG

 1970: Arise from the merger of the Hamburg Amerikanische Packetfahrt Actien Gesellschaft (Hapag) and the Norddeutscher Lloyd (NDL).

In 1847 becomes Adolph Godeffroy the first director of Hapag and has to set up a faster and more reliable service between Hamburg and New York. The weekly sailings , quick passage and the transport of the German  mail, gifs the Hapag a lead over there competitors like the NDL.
Forced by economic reasons, Hapag and the NDL hire together in 1862 a piece of ground in New York to build piers and passenger facilities.
In 1899, both companies start working closer with each other.
Between 1900 and 1950 Hapag faces ups and downs. Especially after WO II, when it was not allowed for the Germans to sail around the seas
After rebuilding the company the Hapag and NDL merger in 1970 to Hapag Lloyd AG.
In 1974 Hapag start the trade to China again in co-operation with Rickmers and becomes a 100 % shareholder of Rickmers in 1986.
Rickmers obtain al shares in 2000 and brings the company back under family flag.
Due to the economic crisis in 2008 / 2009, a part of Hapag fall into the hands of a consortium.



Hermann Buss GmbH Cie

 1883: Established by the Buss family from Westrhauderfern.

- carry containers, dry bulk.

After his father passed away, Hermann Buss takes over the management of the company.
He extend the company together with his brother Freiderich.
Two daughter companies were set up, Reider Shipping and Medstar Shipmanagement. The co-operation with Schulte & Burns is brought to a 50 / 50 base.
